I am a runner as well, and I find that you can go to these expensive places to get great workout wear, but I find that the stuff at Costco and even Superstore work just as well. I've tried them all, and I don't find much difference. And you save a ton of money for other things.
In these cooler days, I always try to have a change of clothes, and when it's really cold, you may even want to have a change of shoes too. When you show up for your workout, you'll be all layered up, on those really cold days I may also put on some long underwear.
As the workout progresses, you may take off a layer, but when it's time to do your cool down, you'll want to put a layer back on. I find that this is where your change of clothes could come in handy, because if you're putting on wet clothes from sweating earlier, you won't warm up.
I don't worry too much any more about the cold weather in Calgary, and even if it's not cold, I've still got layers, because you can never tell if it's going to start to get too hot, or a big gust of cold wind is going to come.
When I just started running, I would make a note of what I wore and how successful I was at keeping my body comfortable with the weather that day. That too helped, until I got the hang of running outside in the cold and now doing the outdoor workouts with Bikini Boot Camp. Good luck!
Think warm thoughts!
Good to know about what to wear in the cold. Kelowna is getting colder in the mornings. Time to put on the layers!
