1) Never go to a dinner party ravished. (You'll end up overeating in a hurry) We often eat faster and more when we are hungry.
2) Wear tight fitting clothing. (This will ensure you do not over eat, or if you are not comfortable in tight clothes then tie a string around your waist, when it tightens up, stop eating)
3) Watch the calories that you are drinking. (Calories add up fast in alcoholic drinks) Try other versions of alcohol: instead of beer, cider, Bailey's and Kahlua, try dry wine, Bloody Marys or spirits with part diet mixer and water, this will help reduce your calories.
4) Remember, veggies are our friends!
If you're going to get out there and have fun this holiday season, just be sure to have a plan of action if you find yourself worried about gaining a little weight over the holidays. If you know you're going to indulge, then maybe try to get in one extra workout each week. Check with your trainer to see if she has any bonus workouts during the holiday season. If the weather permits, get outside with your family for a nice brisk walk and enjoy their company in the holiday season.
Some other great ideas:
Remember to drink plenty of water; your body will thank you in the morning. Alcohol and coffee can dehydrate your body.
Watch your portion, treat yourself to a nice drink, dessert, chocolate or sweets without guilt, but always watch your portion. Moderation is always the key.
Make a conscious choice to limit high fat items: They can be found in fried foods, cream-based soup, cheese-filled casseroles, pies, processed meats, some pastries and baked goods.
If you love egg nog, try one of the many new versions of low fat egg nog! Tastes great but with less of the fat and the guilt.
Talk to your trainer before you go, each trainer is a wealth of knowledge!
Happy Holidays!
