OUR STORY

It all started on Calgary's running paths, 2 girlfriends looking for something new to shake up their current fitness routine. With Lindsay's background in kinesiology, personal training and chiropractic and Dawn's love of physical activity and the outdoors, Bikini Boot Camp was born. Rooted in the philosophy that every woman CAN, Bikini Boot Camp became the playground where women could meet up after work or once they had dropped off their kids to school and spend 75 kick butt minutes focused on themselves.

Bikini Boot Camp began in the spring of 2004 with 1 program and 8 ladies registered. From that we have grown to over 70 programs, in 9 cities & 4 provinces! We are fortunate to have 500 participants experiencing our programs every 8 weeks!

We have built our reputation on hard work, quality and our love of doing what we do. Bikini Boot Camp has been fortunate to create our own family of trainers & admin. Women we respect and admire. The workout is just the icing on the cake. Bikini Boot Camp will invite you into a lifestyle full of laughter, sweat & passion. Bikini Boot Camp Inc. is a Canadian trade-marked fitness company. We are the original and only Bikini Boot Camp in Canada. Only programs operated by Bikini Boot Camp Inc. are authorized to provide the Bikini Boot Camp Experience. The only certified Bikini Boot Camp trainers are ones that complete the designated Bikini Boot Camp Certification provided by Bikini Boot Camp Inc.

BIKINI BOOT CAMP FAQs

1. Who joins Bikini Boot Camp?

Women who want to get back into working out or need a change in their current program. Bikini Boot Camp welcomes all shapes & sizes as well as all levels of fitness. We are consistently attracting women who are excited about getting active and staying active.

2. Do I need to be in shape before I start Bikini Boot Camp?

No, we do our best to accommodate all fitness levels and have designed programs accordingly. We have created an Intro to Fabulous! program designed for those new to exercise. Some exercises require you to get on and off the ground with ease and others will ask you to get yourself into certain positions that require moderate flexibility.

3. As an athlete, will I still be challenged?

Yes, the advanced & extreme programs are designed for you! Most of the exercises are timed & additional challenges will be added to the exercise to increase their difficulty.

4. How do I know which level to join?

Here are some general guidelines to help you choose the program best suited to your fitness level. Please make note that programs are taught according to the fitness intensity indicated.

Intro to Fabulous:
  • New to exercise or limited due to injuries
  • Can walk for 5-10 mins
  • Would like someone to give them attention they need to get into routine
Beginner:
  • Engaged in an active lifestyle or starting back into a program after time off or injury
  • Can easily run for 5 mins
  • Current baseline level of fitness of 0-2 workouts per week
Intermediate:
  • Current baseline level of fitness of 2-3 workouts per week
  • 20+ mins cardio capacity on elliptical, bike, treadmill, etc...
  • Familiar with the use of free weights
Advanced:
  • Looking for variation and increased intensity in your workouts
  • Ready to PUSH IT

5. Are there specific dates when registration opens online?
Yes! Mark these dates down on your calendars:
  • SPRING registration opens FEBRUARY 15th
  • SUMMER registration opens MAY 15th
  • FALL registration opens JULY 15th
  • LATE FALL registration opens SEPTEMBER 15th
  • FROSTY & FABULOUS! registration opens NOVEMBER 15th
  • JUMP START TO SPRING registration opens JANUARY 15th
6. How can I look at the specific parks I will be going to?

After you have registered for a program, you will be able to access your program calendar, which gives the location for each class. Maps and directions to each location are provided through the Maps link on our website. Find your area of town, then click on the specific park you need.

7. Where are the workouts located?

The workouts will be held at various outdoor parks/settings in your chosen area.

8. What will I be doing at the workouts?

Quite simply EVERYTHING!! The program is based on function therefore core stabilization will always be a part of the workout. Other exercises will include running (short distances), resistance training, lunges (lots of lunges!), tricep dips, jump rope, jumping jacks, theraband training, yoga, ball work (both with an exercise ball and a medicine ball), boxing, relays and anything else we can pull together to make you sweat!! Most of the exercises will be new to you. They are designed to add some flavour to your current personal programs.

9. What does the nutritional component consist of?

Bikini Boot Camp has teamed up with BodyMind Nutrition. Everyone registered for a Bikini Boot Camp program will have access to 3- 20 mins online seminars that have been designed to assist you in getting the most out of your weeks with us. The seminars must be completed within 7 days of creating your BodyMind account and will discuss topics related to Bikini Boot Camp and your performance with the program. Details will be given to you by your Bikini Boot Camp trainer.

10. Are there specialty programs I can join?

SPECIALTY PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS

CORPORATE programs are perfect for those who work downtown or close to it. Workouts will only be held at 2 locations in the heart of downtown. The Corporate Lunch workouts last one hour so that you can get back to the office - your warm up and cool down are the walk/run from the office to the park and back. You'll be energized and ready for the last half of your workday! The evening Corporate workouts last 75 minutes and include your warm up and cool down.

MISSION CORPORATE - CALGARY programs are perfect for those who work in Calgary's mission area. Workouts will only be held at 2 locations. The Corporate Lunch workouts last one hour so that you can get back to the office - your warm up and cool down are the walk/run from the office to the park and back. You'll be energized and ready for the last half of your workday! The evening Corporate workouts last 75 minutes and include your warm up and cool down.

RAW BIKINI BOOT CAMP - What can you do without a lot of equipment? I know my boot camp girls ache at the thought of us not using equipment. Those workouts are usually the toughest. We will show you how to get a great workout without a bunch of equipment. You will do everything from jump lunges, jump squats, and a lot of plyometric work to push ups, dips, ab exercises & everyone's favorite - chin ups! Learn a bunch of new exercises with tubing and what to do with anything/everything you can find in a park.

EXTREME BIKINI BOOT CAMP - Ready to give it all you've got? Looking for an intense cross training activity/to increase your running speed or triathlon transition time? We have teamed up with the best to provide you with all the nitty-gritty to get your body functioning at its highest capacity. Program includes pre VO2max testing, pre : post 1 km time trial, workouts that are zone specific to maximize performance and specific nutritional guidance provided. *extra cost will be associated with this program.

ADVENTURE BIKINI BOOT CAMP - Let's try something NEW. Bikini Boot Camp has brought in the experts to teach you how to mountain bike, rollerblade hike, row... Get in that 3rd Bikini Boot Camp workout by adding our 90 minute adventure drop in workout to your schedule. Workouts will be held Saturday mornings and will run from June - September. The adventure workouts will be held at various locations within the city limits. Registration for these workouts will be available March 15, 2009. *extra cost will be associated with this program.

PRE-NATAL BIKINI BOOT CAMP is designed specifically for the moms-to-be. Specific focus placed on pelvic stabilization, posture & cardiovascular endurance with tips on how to maximize your efforts during delivery. They say that giving birth is just like running a marathon - after your 8 weeks with us you will be ready!

POST-NATAL BIKINI BOOT CAMP is designed for new moms. Babies ages 6 wks - 1 yr are welcome to attend the workout. Learn how to incorporate your child into your physical activity. What a wonderful opportunity to meet new moms while being a fantastic role model for your little one. *details such as types of strollers & what you need to bring to class are available upon request.

45+ & FABULOUS! BIKINI BOOT CAMP designed for those of you who have got the kids off to school & out of the house. Now it's time for you. Surround yourself with other women going through the same life changes while working up a sweat. It's time to show everyone how fabulous you are!

MOM & DAUGHTER BIKINI BOOT CAMP - designed to create a mother/daughter moment surrounding exercise and healthy lifestyles. Full of fun & positive encouragement, you will both be put through the paces while learning about proper posture, healthy eating habits & all that other fun stuff! Girls, ages 10-16 years, are welcome.

11. What results can I expect from this program?

How your body will respond is unique to you. Most body composition changes take ~6 weeks to appear. In this 8 week program participants have noticed a decrease in overall body fat, increased strength, stamina, agility, endurance and self esteem. However, in order to experience these results all aspects of the program must be followed. It takes more than the specified workout days to succeed. Self-discipline is required! The additional training days must be completed weekly and the nutritional suggestions must be adhered to. As your trainers we are here to help you stay motivated, accountable and help you realize just how amazing you are!

12. What do I need to bring with me to the workouts?
  1. Yourself- pumped and ready to work!!
  2. Water- NO carrying case required.

*if specific workouts are requiring additional items you will be notified by your trainer ahead of time.

13. What happens when it rains or snows?

We are all here to burn calories and we will do that in rain or shine!! If things get too slippery or muddy to continue a workout then a run may take its place and the workout will be rescheduled. If the weather is questionable you will be able to check your trainer's voice mail - it will be changed to inform you of any changes to the workout. Voice mail changes will be made 1.5 hours prior to workout time. You may also check your dashboard to see if the session has been rescheduled. You will be surprised at what can be done in weather that you once thought was unbearable.

*Safety will always be top priority. You will never be placed in a situation where the weather is a threat to your well-being.

14. What happens if I need to miss a class?

No refunds or credits will be given for missed classes.

15. Does Bikini Boot Camp run all year?

YES it does! The spring, summer & fall workouts are all held outside within your specific area of the city. The late fall (Nov/Dec) & winter programs (Jan/Feb/Mar/Apr) consist of outdoor programs as well as outdoor/indoor programs that consist of 1 indoor workout in a community centre & 1 outdoor workout. For the late fall & winter programs the indoor and outdoor will remain at the same location for the entire 8 weeks.

17. If I chose not to continue will I get a refund?
  • $100 deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • No refunds or credits of any fees will be given once the first week of the program is complete.
Cancellations and Changes
  • If you withdraw from the program before the first class, a credit may be offered or a refund may be issued on a pro-rated basis (please note the $100 deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable).
  • Program changes may be made prior to the start date of the first class, subject to space and availability.
18. What if I forget my password & can't log into the website?

19. Where can I find Bikini Boot Camp?

We are currently expanding. Bikini Boot Camp has successfully opened in Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Prince Albert, Candle Lake, Emma Lake, Saskatoon & Toronto. Expansion plans for Sping 2009 include Kelowna & Regina.

20. What if I don't live in those cities?
